Budget! Budget! BUDGET!!!!
One of those words you definitely can get tired of hearing. It’s so repetitive yet, so true. The better you budget, the better you can save up.
Today I’m actually going to go over my budget and show you a little tip trick that I like to use.
Which is paying bills in small payments on a weekly basis rather than pay a big chunk at a time on the due date.
I'll go over it with you and use my budget as an example.
Internet- $56.52 due on the 1st
Cell Phone- $44.10 due on the 3rd
Credit Card- $40 due on the 8th
Car Insurance- $150.49 due on the 1st
Online Sub- $4.99 due on the 28th
Savings- $400 a month
Gas- $80 a month
Total- $696.10 a month
Okay, since we’re already in the middle of September we will start with that.
There are three weeks left of September, including this week. The first of October falls on a Sunday and I don’t get paid until Wednesday. I have a couple of bills that are due on the first of each month and then I have a couple of bills due on the third and eighth of each month.
What we are going to do is divide the full amount of each of the bills by the weeks it’ll take to get to its due date. For an example, My car insurance is due on the 1st of October and the amount is $150.49. This is the 11th of September and I get paid on the 13th. It’ll take 3 weeks for me to pay the full amount of the bill before the due date.
Car Insurance- $150.49 / 3 weeks = $50.16 weekly
Does that kind of make sense?
Now for the rest of the bills.
Cell Phone- $44.10/ 3 weeks= $14.70 weekly
Internet- $56.52/ 3 weeks= $18.84 weekly
Credit Card- $40/ 4 weeks= $10 weekly
Online Sub- $4.99/ 3 weeks= $1.66 weekly
Gas- $60/ 3 weeks= $20 weekly
Savings- $300/ 3 weeks= $100 weekly
Weekly Total = $215.36
Now I may not make that amount weekly but I did get paid for the previous week and I have some leftover money that can help buffer if I don’t make enough on one of these weeks.
I make $9/hr and work close to 35hrs a week. That’s close to $212.85 a week after taxes and health benefits.
Let’s say you get paid bi-weekly. You can still do this little trick. You can either set money aside in order to pay weekly or you can pay your bills bi-weekly. However you see fit.
Hopefully this can help you in the long run, it has definitely helped me.
